Maybank has made it once again to the global ranking of the world’s 500 most valuable brand with a new ranking of #472. Specifically, in the banking sector, Maybank was ranked #74 globally. Maybank is one of only two Malaysian brands to make the list and is the only financial institution from Malaysia. Further contributing to Maybank’s achievement, its President & Group CEO, Dato’ Khairussaleh Ramli was ranked #85 under Brand Finance Top 100 Brand Guardian list, making him the only Malaysian CEO to be part of the list.

Maybank’s recognition on the remarkable re-entry into the global ranking of the world’s 500 most valuable brands is attributed to an improvement in the Brand Strength Index (BSI), owing to how the brand has positively affect customers’ behaviour, which in turn impacts its business performance, business factors which includes sound financial performance and other external factors on remaining resilient in driving sustainable long-term growth.

Meanwhile, Maybank has been recognised for its excellence in sustainable financing and sustainability transparency from Global Finance by securing five awards within the Global, Regional and Country level for its exceptional initiatives on addressing the adverse effects of climate change and building a more sustainable future for humanity.

Announced in January for the Global Finance Sustainable Finance Awards, Maybank won the Best Bank for Sustainable Financing in Emerging Markets (Global & Asia Pacific), Best Bank for Sustainability Transparency (Asia Pacific), Best Bank for Sustainable Finance (Malaysia) and Best Bank for Sustainable Finance (Indonesia). In addition, on the financial front, Maybank was also awarded the Best Foreign Exchange Bank (Malaysia).

The recognitions showcase Maybank’s unwavering commitment to strengthen its position as a leading financial institution in ASEAN with a focus to intensify customer centricity, accelerate digitalisation and technological modernisation and to drive its leadership position in the sustainability agenda by being the game changer in transitioning ASEAN, as outlined in its M25+ strategy.

The Global Finance Sustainable Finance Awards recognises financial institutions that excel in supporting a comprehensive range of initiatives essential for a sustainable future while demonstrating creativity in addressing long-term challenges.

The awards by Global Finance solidifies Maybank’s commitment in delivering values-driven financial solutions to create sustainable outcomes for economic and societal well-being and enrich customer experience.

Throughout 2024, Maybank made significant advances and surpassed its sustainable financing commitment target of RM 80 billion in which now, over RM105 billion of sustainable financing has been mobilised to support low-carbon transition initiatives and sustainable development outcomes. The Group remains committed in advancing ESG standards within the region by providing for green energy projects, sustainability infrastructure and other environmentally friendly initiatives that align with ASEAN’s sustainability goals.

The Group’s award wins for Global Finance is partly attributed to some of its key global and regional sustainable finance initiatives in 2024, namely Johor Plantations Group Berhad’s Sustainability-Linked Sukuk, the world’s first such sukuk in the Plantation Sector, the establishment of TNB’s Transition Finance Framework and the launch of HERpower, a programme aiming to empower and uplift more than 43 million women-led SMEs in Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Philippines.

On being recognised for sustainable transparency, Maybank continued to enhance its disclosures in 2024, via the inaugural publications of the Group’s Environmental Report (ER) and Social Impact Report (SIR) – both the first by a bank in Malaysia and within the region. The SIR has also been shortlisted for the prestigious edie Awards 2025 for Sustainability Reporting and Communications.

For the win by Maybank Indonesia, the accolade is attributed to the Bank’s sustainable finance efforts on strengthening social financing to empower disadvantaged women and support MSME growth.

All these achievements are a testament to Maybank’s efforts in generating sustainable values for its stakeholders and further strengthens its position to champion ASEAN via value-based financial solutions, especially in support of Malaysia’s year as ASEAN Chairman and its theme of “Inclusivity and Sustainability”.

Maybank would like to take the opportunity to dedicate these awards to the continued trust and support of its customers and acknowledge the hard work of Maybankers in endeavouring to live up to its purpose of Humanising Financial Services.
