Maybank pledges RM8.0 billion to support first-time homebuyers this year at the Minggu Saham Amanah Malaysia 2024 (MSAM’24). This initiative is particularly for those seeking affordable homes priced up to RM500,000, through the holistic Maybank Home Ownership scheme. Its main goal is to empower Malaysians achieve their aspirations of owning their first home and build a stronger financial future by providing accessible and affordable financial solutions for everyone.
Maybank’s Home Ownership scheme provides financing assistance up to a 120% financing which includes property costs and the costs for renovation, furnishings, stamp duties, legal and valuation fees. The comprehensive Home Ownership scheme is designed along Maybank’s myimpact drive to provide comprehensive financing and beyond financing solutions for all customer segments to uplift the communities in the region. This proposition also aligns with the government’s efforts to increase housing affordability and accessibility for the community. Over the past five years, Maybank has disbursed close to RM40 billion of affordable home financing of up to RM500,000 for nearly 150,000 customers.

Last year’s MSAM in Penang, saw around RM32 million in sales for various products and services.

“Maybank’s contribution to the government’s Skim Jaminan Kredit Perumahan (SJKP) financing has further eased the financial burden for first-time homebuyers, with minimal upfront costs and absorbed administrative and legal fees. We are duly recognised for this, when we were named the top financial institution with the most SJKP financing disbursed between 2022 to 2023 from Prokhas. For this year, we have approved RM1.7 billion financing for more than 6,500 homes from the scheme alone, and will continue to support our customers with affordable home financing," added Taufik Albar.
