Maybank, the fourth largest bank in Southeast Asia by assets has won top awards at Euromoney Awards for Excellence 2024, securing three awards, Best Bank Malaysia, Best Digital Bank Malaysia and Best International Bank in Cambodia.

Meanwhile, Global Finance has announced the winners for the World’s Best Consumer Digital Bank Awards 2024 in Asia-Pacific with Maybank picking up the country awards for Malaysia and Indonesia respectively. Maybank was also named winner of the Malaysia country category since 2018.

The recognition showcases Maybank’s unwavering efforts to strengthen its position as a leading financial institution in ASEAN with a focus to intensify customer centricity, accelerate digitalisation and technological modernisation, strengthen Maybank’s business presence and position beyond Malaysia, drive its leadership position in the sustainability agenda and become a global leader in Islamic Banking, as outlined in its M25+ strategy.

The Euromoney Awards for Excellence is the definitive annual awards programme for the banking industry, celebrating the achievements of banks from across the globe with participation from over 600 banks representing more than 100 countries.

This is also the 25th year Global Finance has named the World’s Best Digital Banks. Winning banks were selected based on strength of strategy for attracting and servicing digital customers, success in getting clients to use digital offerings, growth of digital customers, breadth of product offerings, evidence of tangible benefits gained from digital initiatives, and web/mobile site design and functionality.

President & Group CEO of Maybank, Dato’ Khairussaleh Ramli said that these awards solidify the Bank’s commitment in delivering values-driven financial solutions to create sustainable outcomes for economic and societal well-being and enrich customer experience.

“Throughout 2023, we have made significant advances in every aspect of our operations which contributed to a record-breaking year with our total assets exceeding RM1 trillion and achieving a net profit of RM9.35 billion.”

“Our achievement on being named as the Best Bank in Malaysia for the fifth time by Euromoney was driven by several market-first initiatives that has transformed the banking landscape. Leading the way on this segment is the introduction of the first values-based myimpact credit card with built-in carbon footprint tracker and ability to offset carbon footprint in Malaysia and the launch of Signature branch at Pavilion Bukit Jalil Kuala Lumpur Malaysia, offering “all-in-a-bank” features for both individual and commercial clients.”

“We have also enhanced our agility to increase customer satisfaction and speeding up time-to-market solutions. To this point, we have rolled out the Agile Customer Experience (CX) @ Branch in 347 branches across Malaysia, improving the average time to open an account from 51 to 15 minutes, a total decrease of 70%.”

Maybank’s achievements in Malaysia on being named Best Digital Bank and Best Consumer Digital Bank by Euromoney and Global Finance recently can be attributed to the Bank’s deep commitment to transform the digital banking landscape via the introduction of innovative solutions that cater to the evolving needs of its customers.

“This is evident with continued leadership across mobile and internet banking with a market share of more than 50% on all mobile banking transactions in Malaysia. In 2023, Maybank also introduced its cross-border QRPay feature, one of the first from a Malaysian bank which signifies the commitment in accelerating digitalisation and technological modernization, which will benefit all Maybank users and Small Medium Enterprises (SMEs) who can now accept customer payments from Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia, China and South Korea” said Dato’ Khairussaleh.

On the international front, Maybank Cambodia was awarded Best International Bank in Cambodia by Euromoney for the fourth time in a row, showcasing its prowess as a one of the leading foreign banks in the country. With 30 years of progressive growth, Maybank Cambodia delivered stellar financial performance while continuously building on its franchise to offer diversified banking solutions, innovative digital banking capabilities and contributing actively to the economic and social developments of the nation.

On being named Best Consumer Digital Bank in Indonesia by Global Finance, Maybank Indonesia demonstrated its capabilities to provide customers with innovative digital solutions to enhance their overall banking experience. The Bank introduced straight through processing feature for bonds purchasing, gold savings account, digital credit card and the new Maybank2u web, further strengthening its market position in the archipelago.

“Our focus now is to build from these achievements and generate sustainable values for all our stakeholders, especially our customers. This will be driven by our key business strategies identified for 2024 and beyond, anchored on our mission of Humanising Financial Services,” added Dato’ Khairussaleh.
